You are more likely to get raped by someone you know rather than a stranger; meaning that the chances of you being raped in a dark alley by some stranger are pretty slim. So from this information you need to be careful especially at parties where there is alcohol that might impair your judgment. If you are at a party and someone is being forceful with you stay NO! Don’t be nice about it or be worried about hurting someone’s feelings. At parties try not to set your drinks down ladies. A lot of times guys will slip something in there to try and get you in bed. Just be safe and be cautious at parties.
Let’s say you did have sex at a party. You were drinking and a guy took advantage of you. You told him no but he continued. You didn’t think much of it because you are sure that it happens to a lot of girls and it is no big deal, he didn’t hurt you or anything. Girls this is rape. I don’t care if your judgment was impaired by alcohol, this is rape. And just because it happened by someone you knew and you don’t want to hurt his feelings by saying no, it is rape. Don’t be afraid to hurt someone’s feelings because you know them. Stand up for what you feel is right.
The rates of college campus rapes keep increasing, and this is a very important issue that needs to be addressed. However you can protect yourself, using the procedures in my last blog you can limit your chances. I believe the most effective one would be, watch what you are doing at parties especially. Don’t go into a room alone with someone, stay where everyone else is, and watch out for other girls as well. we can bring these statistics down girls, and I hope we do!
